The Samba was all the rage on Sunday 22nd as the High Street was transformed into a “Brazilian” street party. Thanks must go to Paul Burgess and the Harborne Carnival Committee for once again organising a fantastic day.The return of the Carnival saw tens of thousands of visitors take part in and experience various stage performances, parades and rides. There was also a great variety of stalls and trades people, as well as resident and future businesses opening up to take advantage of the extra footfall.
As per police request local pubs closed doors between 4pm and 7pm to help keep alcohol related trouble to a minimum. Happily, the Carnival concluded without serious incident. With attendance rumoured to be close to 90,000!, it seems it’s back in a big way and will no doubt return again next year.
